Happy International Day of the Girl Child!
A Message to the Girls of Wales International School
Dear Girls of Wales International School,
Today, the world pauses to celebrate you. Happy International Day of the Girl Child! Whether you are a little one taking your first steps in the Creche, a bright young learner in Nursery, a curious explorer in Primary, or a young woman preparing for the world in college, you are special, you are valued, and you are powerful.
Why This Day Matters
The International Day of the Girl Child is observed every year on 1th October. It was set aside by the United Nations to remind us that every girl, everywhere, deserves to learn, to be safe, to be heard, and to dream without limits. When a girl is educated and encouraged, she does not rise alone. She lifts her family, her community, and her nation with her.
You are the reason this day exists, and we are proud of you.
A Word to Each of You To our Creche and Nursery girls: You are little stars full of laughter and wonder. Keep smiling, keep asking questions, and keep playing. Your giggles light up our school every day. Listen to your teachers, be kind to your friends, and always remember that you are loved.
To our Primary school girls: You are curious, creative, and full of ideas. Never be afraid to raise your hand, ask “why?”, or try something new. It is perfectly fine to make mistakes, because that is how we learn. Read many books, be kind in your words, and believe that you can become anything you choose to be: a doctor, an engineer, a pilot, a teacher, a scientist, or a president.
To our College girls: You are standing at the doorway of your future. The choices you make now will shape the woman you become. Study with purpose, choose your friends wisely, protect your integrity, and never let anyone convince you that your dreams are too big. Lead with confidence, and when you succeed, reach back and help another girl climb.
Words of Advice for Every Girl
1. Value your education. Knowledge is the one treasure no one can take from you. Learn with joy and discipline.
2. Believe in yourself. You are capable, intelligent, and strong. Speak kindly to yourself, just as you would to a friend.
3. Know your worth. You are valuable simply because you are you. Never shrink yourself to fit in or to please others.
4. Use your voice. Your opinions matter. Speak up respectfully, and speak out when something is wrong.
5. Protect yourself. Your body and your safety are your own. If anything makes you uncomfortable, tell a trusted adult, such as your parents, teachers, or school counsellor. You will always be listened to and supported.
To every girl in Wales International School: you are not just the leaders of tomorrow, you are making a difference today. Your talents, your kindness, and your courage already make our school a brighter place.
To our parents, guardians, and teachers: thank you for nurturing, protecting, and believing in these girls. Let us continue to give them the love, safety, and opportunities they need to thrive.
Celebrate Yourself Today!
Happy International Day of the Girl Child from all of us at Wales International School!
